Soft Top *Work in Progress*
This is an old style Bestop Soft Top that was given to me by a benevolent soul. It came with almost everything it needed except the brackets for the bows, so we had to take care of that with a quick fab.
The door frames weren’t the best fit so I positioned the frame outside of the bracket to see where it would seal the best. I noticed that it would actually seal better outside of the side snaps channel so I drilled out the rivets holding on the window frame bracket and moved it.
The door frame brackets fit nice and snug now. I think I may need to bend them a little to get them to seal all the say but I am going to wait until the top stretches out a little bit before I do anything.
I also didn’t want to drill into the body for the snaps so along the tailgate I am going to use a lip protector that I will drill through and use the types of snaps that come with clothing with a flare fastener/rivet type and not the screw type.
It is still a work in progress so I will update as I go through it.
Here are some pics of what the truck looks like now.
