Luminescent Gauge Overlays

I was sick of not knowing what was going on with the gauges while driving at night so I finally got around to doing the luminescent gauge overlay kit. I purchased it from Jeff’s Bronco Graveyard. The overlays are actually made by Scott Drake.

Tools:

Nut drivers in: 3/8, 5,16

Superglue or your favorite adhesive or double sided tape

Masking tape

Orange Paint (for needles)

Paint Stripper

0000 Steel Wool
First thing I did was removed the guage panel and completely disassembled it.

Next I took the gauge separator plate and sprayed it with aircraft stripper. I wiped off the stripper and then sprayed on another coat. I then washed off the stripper and buffed the plate with 0000 steel wool until it shined. I then reassembled the turn signal and high beam colored discs using super glue.

Gauge Separator Plate

After the plate was cleaned and shined I cleaned the main bracket that holds everything together and what the individual gauges attach to. I submerged the bracket in warm soapy water and scrubbed it with a green scratchy pad. I then sprayed it with stripper and let it sit for 5 minutes. After sitting I then washed it again as I did before.
